The College of Midwives of Ontario is proposing changes to O. Reg. 168/11 Registration Regulation. The Registration Regulation sets out the requirements for obtaining and maintaining registration with the College of Midwives of Ontario. The College’s current Registration Regulation addresses:

The College of Midwives of Ontario’s Inquiries, Complaints, and Reports Committee (ICRC) investigates public complaints and information the College receives through reports regarding concerns related to professional misconduct, incompetence, or incapacity.
Thank you to everyone who attended our November 1st Member Education Day in Toronto, both those who attended in person and through our live and interactive webcast. We had a full day, with incredibly interesting presentations from our two speakers in the morning. I would like to take this opportunity to extend thanks to Deanna Williams and Dr. Zubin Austin, whose presentations set the stage perfectly for our afternoon discussion of the Professional Standards.
In September 2017, I received a letter from the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. In the letter, Minister Eric Hoskins writes about the Ministry’s Patients First Action Plan, and states their objective to increase access to the right care, at the right time.
As the newly elected Council President of the College of Midwives of Ontario, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and to share some information about an important consultation that we’ve started at the College.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all midwives who voted for our College of Midwives of Ontario Council over the month of June. A total of 204 members cast their votes; 24.29% of all eligible voters.
We had some good feedback from our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) article in our last newsletter, and wanted to take this opportunity to share a couple of new resources from Public Health Ontario. Recommendations on Influenza Immunization for Health Care Personnel and Recommendations from the Office of the Chief Coroner
At the October Council meeting, Council decided to rescind the Practice Assessment Workbook (PAW) and the PAW Policies and Procedures document. As a result of this decision, the College will no longer randomly select members to complete the PAW and all PAW materials have been removed from the website. QAP reporting 2016-2017 is now open
Members are reminded to use the Member Portal to update their information on file with the College, including contact information, practice location(s), hospital and birth centre privileges and certifications. In accordance with Article of 14.06 of the College’s General By-law, members are required to inform the College of any change in information as noted below. Updating one’s information via the Member Portal would constitute having informed the College.
